Welcome July's Guest Designer

Please welcome the ever sweet Christy Davis

Bio:
My name is Christy Davis, and I live in sunny Florida with my husband Bryan and my three children, ages 4.5, 3, and 9 months. I started scrapbooking right after my wedding as a way to preserve my wedding photos, and now am thankful for the creative outlet it continues to give me as a mom of busy young children. I have served as a part of some other design teams, and am thrilled and thankful for this opportunity to be a guest designer for GCD this month!

And here are two beautiful projects by here. Let us know what you think.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I created a patriotic card to send out for the Fourth of July. When I went to begin my card, I was really loving these chipboard houses but couldn't think of a good way to use them on my card. Then I realized I could get the number "4" out of the large house. Can you see it?

And I can even get the house back together and use it on a future project with some altering.

I used some papers from the Independence line and my Fiskars punch to add the cut patterned edge. I added some fun embellishments from GCD's Artsy Urban and Homespun lines, along with a felt star that I picked up in the Joann's dollar section.

I decided to glue some twine around it to outline it and give it some more dimension.

I added some miscellaneous ribbon and some tiny alphabet stickers from Making Memories, and I stuck a butterfly sticker from the Artsy Urban line to a transparency. Then I bent it and secured it to the card with some pop dots.

Supply list:
patterned paper: GCD Independence line; journaling spot and butterfly: GCD Artsy Urban line; chipboard: GCD Homespun line; felt star: Joann's; alphabet stickers: Making Memories; ribbon: miscellaneous
I also did a layout to celebrate my baby boy's first Independence Day:

Supply List:
patterned paper: GCD Independence line; chipboard:GCD Artsy Urban and Homespun lines; brads: GCD Artsy Urban line; alphabet letters: American Crafts; glitter stars: Joann's; ribbon: miscellaneous.
Happy 4th, everyone!

  6. I'm always so pleased when I find that I "already have" the embellishment I need. :) (Maybe because I can then justify my scrapping budget???)
