A whole lot of lovely lace

Hello, I'm here to share a card created with GCD's Sweet Tooth collection today. Everything about this collection is just darling... from the pink dot flower patterns to its spring motifs with birds and butterflies to its delicate color palette.  So what to do with such a darling collection? Well I of course wanted to create something for my sweet four year old daughter who always goes for the pink items in her closet before all others.

Sour Cherry, Peppermint Plaid, Chocolate Kisses, Gum Drop and Bubblegum patterned papers from Sweet Tooth collection.
Do you think she will like it? Her birthday is only 3 months away, but we are already planning her party like its tomorrow:)

Pure Goodness

When I sit down and created a page I first edit and print my pictures. My next step is to look at the papers I plan on using and see what elements I can cut out. One of my favorite things to do is fussy cut items for my page. This time was no exception! I cut out two elements from the Splendor Heirloom pager to create my "flowers."
Next I cut out a few of the labels from the Splendor Labels and Tags paper. I used a little of the Splendor Navy Flora paper to pull together all the elements of my page. Lastly I added my picture to complete my page.
Thanks for stopping by!

I fussy Cut! Do you?

Have you seen all the gorgeous prints in GCD Studios latest Splendor collection. Each sheet of double sided patterned is as gorgeous as the next. Two of my favorites have so many uses. The first is called Letter Tiles:
The wood grain is amazing, but the tiles are perfecting for cutting up for titles too! And this sheet called Labels and Tags includes just that--plenty of labels and tags for journaling and embellishing:
I used both along with Floral Frame and Candytuft for this layout:
I fussy cut out the Floral Frame and layered it on the Candytuft piece. Even without the linen texture, the new GCD Studios heavy duty patterned paper is perfect for machine stitching:
and the Cameo cut it beautifully for the flower and "beautiful" word in the title. The colors and patterns in this collection are nothing short of stunning, go check it out!

Feathers aren't just for birds...

Hello GCD fans, it's Gina here and I have a fabulous project for you this month using the brand new Splendor line. I wanted to create a project this month inspired by fashion. I was inspired by this link by Elle Magazine. In their current fashion trend report for Spring 2012 they noted that one of the trends that is hot right now is birds. I chose to implement this on my project by adding feathers to my layout. A Sweet Life layout: I love the look. The feathers add texture to the layout, but don't take away from the design. Another fun technique that I used on this page, is that I created my own flags by cutting banner shapes out of yummy Splendor papers and then gluing them down to bamboo sticks (that I found in my kitchen pantry), so fun! Here is a close up:

A happy card in the mail

Hi all! There's nothing quite like getting a happy card in the mail to brighten up your day. I know I always love getting happy cards for no reason at all from my friends so I decided to pay it forward and make a happy card for no reason at all to send to one of them.
Keeping with the happy theme, I used some of the cheery papers from the GCD' Studios' new Oh Happy Day collection. With pretty pinks, yellow, orange, green and blue colors, it makes for such a happy collection.

I fussy cut the flowers from the collection's Emily Rose piece of paper and then layered them together with foam tape. I just love the dimension the layered flowers add to my card! I can't wait to send this card out! I am sure it will bring some real cheer to one of my friends.

Scrap those sports photos

Hello, it's Jennifer Larson sharing a sports page I made using non-sports papers. My younger son loves sports, even though he's not a formal participant right now. I have a collection of photos I've taken of him messing around with various athletic gear, so I decided to put them together on a page. I LOVE this yellow paper "Sunswept" from the line Splendor:
It reminded me of the colors in the basketball photo of my son, so I used this paper as the backdrop. I then picked a bunch of brown and dark yellow papers from the same line to add to the page, "Letter Tiles," "Zig Zag," and "Heirloom." To add some contrast, I picked this energetic paper "Woven Chevron" from Splendor as an accent paper:
I hand cut a line and added it to the middle of the browns. I wanted small bits of blue throughout as well, so I punched tiny circles from the B side of "Pink Flora." I added them to the yellow paper and did some hand stitching. Here's how the page ended up:
I love how versatile this collection is! Have fun playing with Splendor, even for some pages that you might otherwise only use themed products on.

Get out those house hold supplies.

Hey there!  Okay so for today's post, I was asked to use household items on a card.   I used GCD Studio's Oh Happy Day collection for both of my cards.  The first one I used a mini popsicle stick.

For this next one I used a straw I had in my kitchen.  Turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself!

A card to make you feel better

Hi there! Clare here today to share a super fun and easy project with you. :) So, if you know me, you know I like love my floral papers, so it's no surprise I'm head over heals for the Splendor collection! My favorite floral paper from this line, and one of my top five all time, is Tiny Blossoms. Pure sweetness. Here is one of my first cards made using this paper (and trust me, it is one of many!)...

I usually don't go for homemade paper flowers, but I couldn't resist on this one. :)

A sweet and cute card made using a sweet, adorable paper.
That's all for today, yinz! Thanks so much for dropping in today!

what's that you said...Burlap??

Today I'm here to talk about texture. I love what texture adds to a project and there are so many ways to achieve it. Right now I'm going to focus on something I've been a little obsessed with lately: Burlap. It's cheap, lightweight, easy to use and oh so versatile. On this first card I used it as both a trim and a material to created a custom embellishment with.
GCD Studios Heidi Van Laar Thank You
Supplies: Cardstock: (Ivory) The Paper Co., Patterned Paper: (Floral Frame, Navy Flora, Letter Tile, Zig Zag, Posies: Splendor) GCD Studios, Stamp: Technique Tuesday, Ink: ColorBox, Twine: The Twinery, Pins: Maya Road, Tag Die: Spellbinders, Glimmer Mist: Tattered Angels, Corner Rounder: We R Memory Keepers, burlap from remnant bin Size: 4.25"x5.5"

It's super easy to use as a trim. Just cut a thin strip and fray they edges a bit. The rose I created really compliments the beautiful papers from the Splendor collection that I used. It was almost as easy to create as the fringe. Just cut a strip, twist it and roll into a spiral. Glue the ends together and voila, a rose! I spritzed mine with a little pink and added two hand cut leaves. Another easy way to use burlap is to create a mat or a frame with it.
GCD Studios Heidi Van Laar Hi Friend
Supplies: Cardstock: (white) Georgia-Pacific, Patterned Paper: (Floral Field, Strawberry Jam, Superstar, Tiny Floral border, Sweet Floral: Country Charm) GCD Studios, die cut Doily: (Sweet Surrender collection) GCD Studios, Stamp: Paper Smooches, Ink: Color Box, Alphabet Stickers: October Afternoon, Dies: (Label, Border) Spellbinders, ribbon: May Arts Size: 5.5"x4.25"

I die cut a piece of burlap and used it as a mat for my focal image. SO easy! I love the way the natural color and rough texture of the burlap plays with the fun, bright colors in the Country Charm Collection. I hope you'll think about giving burlap a try :)

I know that Valentine's Day has past, but it shouldn't stop you from still making this little heart box that I came up with. I cost almost nothing (just 2 sheets of paper and adhesive) and it's darn CUTE!

We've create a template that you can use. Just click on the link and follow the simple steps.

We taught this at CHA for my collections Make and Take. We had many people ask for a template and the step by step, so here it is. I hope you enjoyed today's post and that you try this box. Let us know how it goes and share images by linking in the comments.

lol oops one more girl :)

I feel so lame... I forgot to post about Julie. I'm so the lamest. So here is our last DT gal :)

Hi there!  I have loved GCDStudios from the very beginning when they first started.  I remember being so impressed with the quaility of paper and the gorgeous designs!  I've been a paper crafter for many years and also work as substitute teacher which makes my hours very flexible.  I really feel that my style of art work is a perfect match for the wide range of styles that GCDStudios continually 'wows' everyone with!

Over the last few years,  I have focused my time and energy into my Spellblogging job and responsibilities with Spellbinders. I have been on several manufacturer design teams. Am ready and excited to give GCD Studios my 110% effort.  It's a honor to be designing on this team! Thank you so much and here is my blog

Thanks for stopping by-Important :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and joining in with us as we welcome our new DT gals.
Check them all out and get to know them. I'm excited to have them with us for a full year and to see all the things they will make for the GCD blog.

Before you leave I have just a small note:

All the give aways are open until tomorrow night (3/13/12) and then they all close. This is the first time we are giving these away, so if you get picked you'll be one of the first to work with the collections :)
Good luck to you all and thanks again for visiting our blog. I'm so proud of our 2012 team and thanks to all those that tried out.

Last but not least.... Please welcome...

(Layout Gal)

I am a stay-at-home mom of 2 ( a 2 ½ year old and a 7 month old) and I love being a homemaker and crafter of all sorts.  I was formerly a high school Biology teacher and lived in central New York state.  We moved to the Houston, Texas area about 5 years ago where my scrapbooking really started to become a serious hobby!  I was first introduced to GCD Studios in April of 2009 when I took a class at a CKC convention here in Houston. I have always loved the textures of their papers and all the embellishments, too!  And I am oh so happy that I can get GCD products at my local Hobby Lobby!  I love all your new releases, but my favorites would have to be Splendor and Oh Happy Day!  Stop by my blog and thanks for visiting this day

How about one last give away for the day???

I thought you might like the chance to win one more give away and so here it is. Leave a comment and 1 winner will win our new Sweet Tooth collection by Diane Kappa

So excited about this gal....
