Hi! My name is Jamie Harder and I am lucky to be a SAHM to two beautiful daughters (who provide me with ample scrap worthy material), and a wife to a very supportive husband! I started scrapbooking about six years ago when my first daughter was born, but the obsession really kicked in about three years ago. I love my creative time and I love to challenge myself to learn new things and to improve my skills. Scrapbooking combines my love of my family, art, and photography into a wonderful way to document life. Through scrapbooking, I have also had the opportunity to discover new friendships with people who share the same passion as I do for this hobby. When I am not scrapbooking you can find me outside; walking my dogs, gardening, running, camping, birding......etc.

When I got "the call":

This is the first manufacturer design team I have ever applied for and I really wanted to make the team!!!! Being an international applicant, I sat by my computer and waited, hoping to get an email at the 8 PST. Nothing. Then, I got an email....and I was so excited....except it was an advertisement from my LSS. A sale...still exciting...but not the excitement I was seeking:-) So I had pretty much accepted that I did not make it. Then I swung by the GCD studios blog...what?? Heidi is running late?? I still might have a chance??? The nail biting began again. But I decided that staring at my computer wouldn't help, so I did a few chores and when I came back to my computer....an email...THE email!! YIPPPEEEEEE!!! I was so excited.....I did a little dance....my girls joined in! I felt SO HAPPY, SO EXCITED, SO GRATEFUL and SO HONORED!!! I still can't believe it!!!!!!

I am from Singapore. a tiny red dot on the world map. A full time mommy to 2 kids (a girl and a boy) and a part time scrapbooker. I got hooked on this craft almost 5 years ago after the birth of our first born. Besides my love for paper and glue, i love music and bargain hunting. 2006 has to be my turning point. That was the very lucky first time i got selected to be part of a manufacturer. Being surrounded with such talents from around the world, it pushed me to improve my craft and i am happy to be where i am today. Being in print in US scrapbooking/ papercraft magazines and French/Australian's scrapbooking magazines are also blessed bonus. 2009 was another milestone for that was when i was a Runner Up in the Memory Makers Masters Contest. How i felt :

crazy estactic ! i was one of the few who received the email instead of the call. I checked my inbox first thing in the morning and thought i am still half asleep! i had to hit the refresh button just to be sure !

Bio:
I am married to my wonderful husband Gary and we have one son, Benson. We live in the northern beaches of Wollongong in Australia – I think one of the most beautiful places on earth. I discovered scrapbooking when I was pregnant with Benson and my first project was his birth announcement cards. I was so proud of them then, but now look at them and think of what I could have done!
Scrapbooking to me is a wonderful combination of storytelling, beautiful photos and creativity. I am fortunate that both my husband and I have a keen interest in photography so there is never a shortage of photos to scrap. I think the story that accompanies the photos is so important and I love to use handwritten journaling to record these stories. I also love to use layers on my layouts, whether that is with paper, inks, transparencies or embellishments, I think that layers add so much interest to a layout.
As a way to record my stories for when I have time to scrapbook them, I started blogging. I love this means of sharing stories and ideas with family and friends as well as keeping memories to inspire future layouts.

How I felt:

When i got the email, i was shocked that it was in my inbox I was overwhelmed and honoured to make the GCD team. I know that so many amazing scrappers would have applied and to make it is an honour. I can't wait to start!

Hello everyone!! My name is Julie Bonner & I live in Maryland. I am a stay-at-home mom to my adorable 3 year old son, Ryan, and have been married to my husband, Justin, for 6 wonderful years. I also have three toy poodles that help to keep my household a busy, lively place :) I have always enjoyed preserving pictures, cards, newspaper clippings, and mementos in albums but it wasn't until the birth of my son that I threw myself completely into all the wonderful products & techniques the industry has to offer. I love to use hand-sewing, inking, pen detail, stamping, and distressing techniques to add that special touch to my projects, while still maintaining a focus on photos. Scrapbooking has been such a gift, allowing me to preserve my family's precious memories, as well as providing me a satisfying, creative outlet. How I felt when I got "the call" . . .

I was totally surprised & a bit in shock when Heidi called me :) I remember saying "Thank You" like a million times :) I LOVE the fun way everyone was notified on the blog that calls were made with those adorable phones. Getting that personalized phone call was such a fabulous way to feel "right at home" with this terrific company!!!

I live in Windsor Heights, Iowa with my husband of almost 7 years and our 10-month-old twin daughters, Nora & Lily. We adopted the girls into our lives and hearts when they were just days old! I have a degree and career experience in public relations and broadcasting but am now a stay-at-home mom. How I felt when I got the call:

All morning I was busy taking care of my twin girls, but made sure to keep my cell phone handy at all times just in case. I was finishing up feeding the girls lunch when the phone rang. I checked the number and my heart skipped a beat when I didn't recognize who it was. I answered the phone and heard, "Is this Jill?" I had a feeling it was Heidi but said, "Yes, who is this?" And then proceeded to have a heart attack when I was offered a position as a layout designer! I am so thankful and feel so blessed to have this opportunity and can't wait to work with GCD Studios!

Hi, my name is Mimi Leinbach and I am 37 years old. Yikes! I am a SAHM to 2 soccer loving boys Nick(12) and Jack(8) and when I am not scrapping I can be sure to be found at a soccer game or helping out at school. I have been married to Josh for over 15 years. He has given me the freedom to indulge myself in this hobby and I just adore him for it. You could say I am obsessed, completely and totally. I have been scrapping for 12+ years now and I would say my style is ever changing. I like to try every technique at least once and some a lot more. I have a passion for patterned paper, to which I just can't seem to get enough. How it felt to get the call:
I tried to keep myself busy all morning...I am on the east coast so it would be noon here before the calls even started. I ran some errands, and even hit the LSS all trying to pass the time that morning. I got home right about noon...hopped online and stalked the GCD blog and 2 peas board. Of course a telemarketer called and got me so excited, but when I saw the caller ID...my hopes were dashed. Another hour passed, the phone rang again...I looked at the the caller ID again...YAY!!! It was HEIDI!!! I must have sounded a bit nutty, I was so excited! I am not sure how many times I said THANK YOU SO MUCH but I am sure it was ALOT! I bet she got that a lot that day! Now I am floating on cloud 9...we celebrated with a quiet night in, ordered my favorite pizza, and spend the evening scrapping! The perfect night for sure!

Where was I when I got the call?

Poor Heidi had to actually leave me a message to call her back, because I was spending the day at my friends hair salon treating myself to a day of cut, color, and a pedi. {I had to have her add "push" on my toes just to add a bit of humor to the labor & delivery room in a couple of weeks.} Can't wait to scrapbook that!

I was very excited to get my message from Heidi and called her back as soon as I got it! Thank you for the call Heidi and I look forward to working with the entire gcd team!

Hi Everyone! My name is Melissa Mann. I live in the beautiful Gulf Coast of Florida in Pensacola - we are about 10 minutes away from the white beaches! I am married to a wonderful guy named Troy and we have three children: Sammy, a black Lab; Lucy, a pug/bulldog mix; and Daisy the cat. I have been scrapbooking for about 4 years and have seriously grown to love playing with paper and glue! I love to drink sweet tea, read books, and take pictures. GETTING THE CALL:

I read on the GCD Blog that they were going to be making calls to the new designers at 9:00 PST. I am three hours ahead than they are - so, at 12:00am, I had my phone right next to me! It got to be 12:00 and then 12:30 and still no call. I was definitely thinking that I was not chosen for the 2010 team. I had just sat down to eat some lunch and my phone rang with a number that I didn't know....I answered it and when I heard her say her name was Heidi, I was in absolute shock!!! I couldn't believe it! I was BEYOND thrilled and excited!!!!

BIO

I have always enjoyed making things and working with my hands. I have done a little bit of everything when it comes to crafting, but every time I made something I couldn’t help myself from thinking “How many doilies does one person need?!” When I was introduced to scrapbooking nearly 12 years ago, I immediately knew I had found a creative outlet with a purpose! I discovered that I could work and play with color, texture, & dimension as well as design composition and incorporate these with my photos and memories to create something that I could enjoy for years to come. I love to scrapbook just about anything or anyone in my family or my friends. I really love to tell the story! I have also in the last year or so become extremely interested in creating altered projects using scrapbook supplies. From altering ice cream containers to ribbon packaging, I just love what you can do with the unexpected object to personalize it and create a work of art! Scrapbooking and paper crafting are such a natural fit for me and to say I am addicted to it is probably an understatement!

I am married to my best friend & love of my life Danny. We live in a small college town in southern Missouri along the Mississippi River and I work as a physical therapist in a local hospital. We have a horse named Woody (however, it’s actually my husband’s horse!). I love spending time with my husband, working out, reading, camping, cooking and gardening!

THE CALL

I was at work when I got a call from my husband telling me, "some lady named Heidi called" and she wants you to call her. I was like..."Seriously?!". So, with my hands shaking, I dialed her on my cell. When she answered the phone and said "this is Heidi Sonboul" I just wanted to freak out! On the inside I was doing the happy dance, jumping up and down and screaming!!!! Why didn't I really do this? One small problem....I was at work with co-workers and patients within ear shot, so I had to stay calm and professional. It was so hard to hold in all the excitement until after work and then the happy dance was out of control! I was totally jumping up and down and screaming like a fool! I felt so excited and so blessed all at the same time!

Hi, My name is Kristen Swain, aka scrapinkris, or please feel free to just call me Kris. I live in Maryland with my husband of almost 15 years, our two daughters and our various furry friends. I have been scrapping for going on 12 years now, wow! Has it really been that long? I have been published in many of the leading scrapbook and craft magazines, and have been part of several design teams for various manufacturers. I love ribbon, patterned papers, gems, glitter and buttons. I also love texture and adding dimension to my projects. I enjoy baking in my spare time, and love spending weekends with my family. MY PHONE CALL!!!

Oh my gosh- when Heidi called me my throat constricted, but I was able to gasp out- hello?
When she told me that I was the third person she'd called, I was soo excited!
repeat that- sooooo excited!! I think I stuttered a few words, then Heidi said something funny
and we both got to laughing: she was cracking up, I was cracking up. Heidi was so sweet,
she has a great laugh! I am just thrilled to be asked to join the gcd studios team as one of
their altered art girls. I cannot wait to get started on the team, and meet the other ladies on the team.

BIO:

My name is Jennifer Wuthrich and I live in Northern Colorado with my husband of 12 years Chad and our three amazing kids Jackson (age 10), Ashlee-Kate (age 6), and Gavin (age 4). I first started paper crafting 12 years ago (you know - back when you use to cut your photos into all sorts of interesting shapes) – wow have things changed over the years! Crafting is my “me” time and I typically will spend an hour or two (if I can get away with it) a day doing what I love! Beyond paper crafting, I also enjoy creating digital and hybrid projects. I guess you could say I embrace even the “dark” side of this amazing hobby! I’ve had the honor of being published in several magazines including Scrapbook Trends, Cards, Simply Handmade, and Paper Creations.

How I felt when I got the call:

I was thrilled to receive a call from Heidi on Friday – we both laughed because I answered the phone by saying “are you serious”, followed by laughter and screaming. I am thrilled to be a part of the 2010 GCD team and look forward to working along side all of these AMAZING & talented ladies who I already admire.

Hi! I'm Teri Anderson. I'm a scrapbooker and card maker, but I mostly make cards nowadays. I dig pretty much all things paper-related and just love to play and see where creativity takes me. I also love the people. Some of the nicest people I've ever met are scrapbookers and card makers. How I felt when I got the call:

Oh gosh. Surprised! :) Never did I think my phone would ring. I thought about applying. But it wasn't until the very end of the design team call that I made myself sit down and do the application. More than anything, I just wanted to say I took the chance. I also wanted to tell a good friend of mine (who kept telling me that I should apply) that I did.

I am excited to be part of the new team and get to know all the gals on the team. I can't wait to get started.

Bio:
My name is Lea Lawson and I live in beautiful Missoula, Montana. I have been
married to my husband Josh for almost 8 years, and we have two of the cutest
dogs in the world; a yorkie named Bailey and a cocker spaniel named Sadie. I
recently made a career change, and attended an intense photography program
last year from June through October. I have since started my own photography
business with my focus on fine art wedding and portraiture. You can view my

side of things, I started out scrapbooking when I was 18 years old. Since
that time I have made tons of fabulous friends, been published many times in
major scrapbooking magazines, was Creating Keepsakes 2007 Hall of Fame winner,
and a 2008 Scrapbooker of the Year finalist. About 4 years ago I found the
wonderful world of card making, and haven't looked back since. I don't
actually scrapbook much any more, but my love for card making grows every day.
The card making world is such a fun one, very tight knit, and we are always
cheering each other on. I am very excited to be part of the GCD Studios
team...I can't wait to get started!!

How did you feel to get the call?
When I got the call I had assumed they were already finished. Obviously, I
hadn't been checking out the blog to see what was going on!! So, a mysterious
number pops up on my phone...but that isn't uncommon lately as I have been
starting up a business. I answer it, and this cute voice asks for me...and I
pretty much knew what the call was regarding after that (because no one who
calls me regarding business insurance or banking calls has that sweet of a
voice- tee hee!). And I was very excited!! I am fairly shy until I get to
know someone, so I am not the type to scream or get overly excited...but I am
pretty sure I giggled a bit! We had a short but sweet conversation, and it
was a wonderful part of my day! I think I did pretty good...considering
shyness normally tends to take over me in those type of situations! I am
thrilled to be part of this new team, and I can't wait to be inspired by all
of the other girls!!

Welcome Heidi Van Laar Our Card Gal

Bio:
Hi! My name is Heidi Van Laar and I make cards. I also live in southern Washington where I am a stay at home mom to my three beautiful little boys and wife to my wonderful husband, but lets talk cards! I have pretty much always made my own cards. When I was a kid they consisted of a folded in half piece of construction paper with something doodled on the front and when I got older, being a graphic designer, I would design things on the computer and print them out. That all changed in 2002 when I discovered scrapbooking after my 1st child was born. Once I figured out what kind of cards you could make with all those fabulous supplies I was totally hooked!! At first I was just making them for family and friends, then my sister-in-law convinced me to start selling them in her coffee shop. When I started blogging and participating in all things online, that's when the good stuff started to happen. First some challenge design teams and then publication, and now...the design team here at GCD Sudios!!! I am so grateful and excited to be here!

What it was like to get the call:
OK, I could totally pretend to be all casual about this and deny that I had been thinking about it the whole night before and then all morning...but I would be lying. I KNEW the calls were supposed to start at 9am and every time the phone rang after that my heart would jump. I was hoping, really hoping I was gonna get one of those calls! Then it happened...at 10:11 am the phone rang. I approached, cautiously optimistic, then saw the caller ID! It said Sonboul, Heidi...yippee!!

My name is Windy Robinson. I'm the mother of 4 year old Campbell and 2 year old Hadley, and the wife of wonderful Brian. We reside in Loveland, Ohio-- a suburb on the east side of Cincinnati. I've been scrapbooking for about 12 years, and started making cards a little over a year ago. Since then I have fallen head over heels in love with card making, and have been fortunate to have my work published in Paper Crafts and Cards magazine. In my spare time I enjoy hanging out with my family and volunteering in my community. If I can do something helpful and creative everyday, I'm a happy girl!

When I got my call...

I was dropping my daughter off at preschool. Needless to say, I was beside myself with excitement! When I got off the phone my four year old looked at me and said... "Mom, I know you are REALLY happy (with a big smile on her face)... I know it." While she was hanging up her coat she said to her friend..."My mom is REALLY happy today." Her friend asked, "Why Campbell?" and she replied "Well... because she gets to make cards for people." Thanks g.c.d Studios for letting me make cards for you! I'm thrilled to join your team:)

Our company is growing because of you!

Good morning everyone.

I want to thank you all for your patience. Yesterday was a busy day for me... away from GCD.

I'm the room mom for my son's classroom and I taught a class on chalk art. It was a lot of fun and a little messy. lol I had to keep telling them "DON'T blow the dust from the extra chalk".
