Bonjour Week: Use Those Green Thumbs

Bonjour!  Amanda here with a fun and easy home decor project.  As an edible, I am not a fan of wheatgrass.   Newman from Seinfeld may agree that it is a vile weed.  As decor, however, wheatgrass is delightful and oh, so pretty!   I set out to grow my own wheatgrass and create a pretty little box in which it could be displayed.  A long, slender planter of wheatgrass makes lovely table decor.  (For a short tutorial on how I grew my own wheatgrass, click HERE.)

Add some glitter and bling to the butterflies to really make them pop!  I also colored the white floral wire with a green marker so it would blend in nicely.

The double bow on the front mimics a butterfly.

Make your decorative box a little bigger than your plant container.  I used a Rubbermaid utensil container because it was long and short.

I glued a strip of gathered burlap ribbon to the inside of the box and added green satin ribbon to the outside of the box.  TIP/Confession: In a pinch you can also buy wheatgrass at the grocery store.  My wheatgrass was only 2" tall when I was ready to take these photos so I filled my container with grass from the store. :)

Happy Crafting!

From the Bonjour Collection--Provence Plaid 1544 and Butterfly Flutter 1536, glitter (Martha Stewart), green rhinestones (KaiserCraft), blue rhinestones (Hero Arts), burlap ribbon and green satin ribbon (Offray), utensil holder (Rubbermaid), floral wire.
