Tammy Vasser said...

Homespun Chic is so AWESOME! I saw it at Archivers and loaded up. I can't wait to hear about the new design team. You'll find the blinkie on my blog at http://tammyvasser.typepad.com/a-content-life/

Also congrats Tiffany Flibbert you are our Layout winner (What you learned in 2009)
Please also send me your contact info
Today, I also have more beautiful layouts by our 2009 DT.
Nancy's layout
Renee's layout

Grace's layout
Layout: One Year Wiser
I took the assignment to heart and really thought about the important life lessons that I've learned over the past year. There were five that stood out and thinking about them made me thought that I am really wiser because of these lessons thus I came up with "one year wiser" for my title.
I used the Morning Glory collection here. I thought that the papers were pretty, feminine and yet with that touch of "grown up" that I was shooting for with the layout.
I've seen the pleated flowers everywhere lately,so I thought of trying them out myself. They were very easy to make although keeping them stay in shape while the adhesive dried was a little tricky.
I created a visual triangle with the paper threads, adding two to the flowers and one tied on top of the pattern paper.

Thanks girls for all the beautiful layout :) and congrats to the winners!
I'll see you all on Monday to share our March Guest Designer.

1 pad of the NEW... Homespun Chic and 5 of the Homespun Chic embellishment.
Please leave a comment here to let me know it's on your blog :)

I am so excited about this time of year!

We are looking for fresh faces to fill our 2010 team. We are looking for
  • Motivated team members
  • A clean well presented style of Artsy, Shabby, Simple, Modern, Whimsy and much more
  • Well/clean photography skills
  • You've got to love the product! This is super important! We have 9 new beautiful lines from this winter's CHA '10.
  • Bring your personality to the team. We love drama free, fun, and outgoing gals.
  • Ability to work fast, if needed (around show times we might need extra work done and working fast is a plus :)
  • Assignments turned in on time.

Scrapbooking is all about being creative, capturing memories, and having fun! When it comes to our design team, we feel that our members should do just that. "Be Creative, capture memories, and HAVE FUN"!

Spots to fill:

Last year we welcomed 13 girls to the team. This year, we have decided to open 15 spots and the 16th spot will be ONLY 1 returning 2009 DT member. We will be looking for

  • 3 Altered Item Gals
  • 5 Card Gals
  • 5 Layout Gals
  • 2 International Gals

This is what you'll need to turn in:

  • A short paragraph about yourself, explaining who you are and "why you want to work with us"
  • 3-4 projects of your best work
  • Resume
  • A link to your gallery and blog
  • List of any teams you are on right now or responsibilities
  • Your contact information

Each month the GCD Gals will be asked to create 3 items from our 9 new collections (one of the projects will need to be a written tutorial).

Please keep in mind that we are reserving 2 spots for "new up & coming crafters". This means that these spots will be "reserved" for unpublished gals (which I will teach them the ropes of the publishing world). We find great joy in new talent! So, even if you feel that you're not ready to submit to a design team calls, here is your chance!

This year our team will be working side by side with many other companies and fun new partnerships. We have adhesive, cardstock and much more lined up for our 2010 team.

Remember: please keep the file size under 500KB in the email and send your application to hsonboul@gcdstudios.com

  • Open call will close on Feb 27th (at Midnight)
  • The new DT members will be contacted by phone on March 5th 2010
  • The team will be announced in a fun new way on Monday, March 8th 2010

Thanks for reading this long post and good luck everyone

Frame it with a challenge!

I'm in love with frames right now! I love that they add dimension and a little somethin extra to a layout or card. For today, I have two fun layouts created by Amber and Lynn (DT gals).

Amber filled her frames with journaling, embellishments and photos. She then layered them onto pattern paper. It's a simple thing to do and gives a BIG impact.
Lynn lined up her journaling to fit perfectly onto these tag frames. The tags pop off the page and brings the eye right to them.
Challenge:

Create a layout about "what I've learned in 2009" (this does not have to be the title, but it has to be the theme). You have until Feb 25th (Midnight) to enter this challenge and need to have at least 25% of GCD on it :) The winner of this challenge will win our new Ava papers

Delight in life

This layout was created by our DT gal Beatiz
I love the message behind it and the simplicity.

WE LIVE...WE LEARN...WE LAUGH...WE LOVE...WE CHOOSE!

This past year, I have personally learned a lot about myself and how to "breath". I've learned that I often put myself last and by the end of the day... would fall into bed...feeling burnt out!

Oprah has said it best "Mothers have the hardest job!" isn't it so true?!

Today, I encourage you to REMEMBER TO...

WE LIVE...WE LEARN...WE LAUGH...WE LOVE...WE CHOOSE!

Choose to only allow in the things that bring you joy and push out the rest! Choose to laugh, love, learn and live!

CHA wrap up!

There was so much to love about this CHA Winter and our company grew so much! It was one year ago this week, that I started working for GCD. I quickly realized how kind everyone was and how hard working they were!

With the development of our blog and the new lovely partnership with the 'adorable' Melody, our booth was a hit at the show. There wasn't a moment without people crammed into it. The make and take had a CRAZY long line of ladies waiting to get crafty and the booth looked amazing!

It was 3 days before the show that the building began. Our whole team came together like a family and work up until the very last minute allowed lol. On the last night of set up (Saturday), I was the last one to stay. I walked around the booth "people-less" and took photos of all our hard work. In the 15 minutes that I was there, I heard many people walking by and saying "WOW... check out this booth". It was so great to hear that.

When the doors opened on the first day, we were so excited to see all the visitors and how much they loved everything. Our DT gals worked so hard at teaching and did a great job keeping up with all you crafty ladies at the make and take :)

There were a LOT of fun new tools at CHA and it seems that our new chip art tool was a hit amoung them. There was so much work that went into this tool and the items to decorate the booth. Melody and Gail covered the Chipart work, while a few of DT gals (Lori, Lynn, Nancy and friend Pam C) and myself covered all the paper projects for the collections.

We at GCD Studios want to thank each and everyone of you for your loving support! Thank you for posting on your blogs, thank you for following our blog (this past year), THANK YOU for visiting our booth, THANKS YOU...THANK YOU!!!
To end this wrap up.... here is a video created by our web guy Jeff :) Enjoy!

Are you ready for Valentines Days?

lol I'm not!
Tomorrow my son Bradley has a class party and I'm the room mom. Anyone else a room mom at a child's school? lol it's a lot of work...FUN...BUT a lot of work! Because of this I haven't really planned much for the hubby.

We'll most likely end up watching a movie at home and eating some yummy food. Do you have FUN plans??? I'd love to hear them... maybe you'll spark my creativity ;)

Today, I have these 3 adorable cards by Brenda (first two cards) and Krista (Last card)

Have fun planning for the big day

700

Last night I noticed that we hit our 700th blog follower! This is something to celebrate!!!

Thanks Jaana and welcome (our 700th gal). I'm going to send you 1 pad of Artsy Urban and 3 of the embellishments. Simply go to the Contact button (to the top right) and email me your address (to Heidi). WOOT!

BLOG REMODEL NEWS

Around the same time last night, our blog also received a face lift. Did you notice? I'm so excited about this new look and how organized it all is. The remodeling was done by my blog genius friend... Emilie.

A BLOG WALK THROUGH

To the top right, you'll find buttons and each one will take you to a clean and lovely new page. So, take a moment and check it all out.

This past few days I've been asked "How do I link the blinkie for the DT call give away?"

In the bottom right columns, you'll find the step by step answer on how to add a blinkie (with the showing image code). So easy right?! Once the DT call is over, we'll have our NEW Blinkie in the same spot. So keep a look out for it.

Getting back to the Valentines Celebration... here are 4 new cards. The top 3 were designed from Amber and this bottom by Lynn :) Aren't they so beautiful?!

I hope you enjoyed today's post and that you love our new look ;)

WOOT! We are on facebook!

As you can see... over to the right of the side bar, we are now up and running through facebook.
Make sure you take a moment to become a fan :)
We will be doing more give aways there and updates on our company.

Today I have these two cute cards by
Nancy:

and Grace... our two DT gals
Grace was sweet enough to give instructions on her card.

Card: To my Sweetheart
This valentine inspired card was made using the Party it up collection. I love the "fun" colors and designs in them. And they just so happen to have papers that have hearts in them. Perfect for the theme!Since I'm going to be giving this to my "sweetheart", I decided to go for a more masculine color scheme focusing on the blues rather than the typical red and pinks that we associate with Valentines day.

I'm back and updates

Good morning everyone!

With the DT Call and CHA.... I took some time off from blogging.
Today, I'm now fully back! To tell the truth, I've really missed blogging this past 2 weeks! I love sharing our DT's work and I love getting to know all of you by your comments.

The DT Call is going great. Just a heads up... we have not gotten very many "altered" applications. I was asked "what is an Altered gals job?"
She can be a mini album, bird house, or home decor crafter. Pretty much anything away from scrapbooking and cards. I look forward to more applications.

I'm not sure if you have seen this video yet, but it was on the Creating Keepsakes blog. Our lovely Sherry (DT gal) is doing all the talking and demo.

While I continue posting new post, I'm going to make it easy for you to find the DT call. I've set up a link to the left. Don't forget to grab the blinkie and let me know (on the DT post) where you posted it. The winner will receive some yummy new Homespun chic goods!

Being that Valentines Day is so close, I've asked our DT gals to each create a card. Today I have this lovely card to share from Beatriz

Also here is another card by Renee

Booth of are girls used the vintage Arty Urban and layered on these cute tags with hearts.

Tomorrow, I'll have more cards for you, info on our new Facebook account and more photos from CHA :)
