Celebrate spring with a layout

Hi all! Mimi here! I posting my last project and post for GCD Studios. I have so enjoyed my time here working with all these amazing products and super talented ladies. I am inspired by them daily. This past year has been has been so rewarding working and being challenged by Heidi! Congrats to the new team you will love your time here!



Now for my last project! A spring one of course...the Fun House Collection has to be my favorite new line of this release so I had to dig into that! This patchwork paper is perfect as is but it sure was fun to add a little sparkle with Stickles.

a little sumthin for spring

For something a little different for me, I created these canvases for display. Again, I am in love with the pinks and browns of the new line from Melody Ross called "Soul Food." They were SUPER SIMPLE because I just cut up some of the pre-existing papers and mod-podged them down onto a blank canvas I painted a weathered brown to begin with. Quick home decor project with minial fuss. Just what I love! They are about 9 x 12 inches.

And did I mention it's inexpensive? Paper, brads, and two canvases. Score!

Next stop for me? Mixed media. I know I can do it!

Put a little "soul" in your cards....

I am in love with the "Soul Food" line from GCD. Melody Ross is so inspirational, as are her products. I thought it would be fun to make some cards for a change. Have you ever had a friend who is going through a rough patch? You could send her a handmade card, just like these, made in about 10 minutes a piece. If you know anything about me, you know I'm not the type to spend a ton of time on anything. These cards are quick and easy, especially using these inspirational cards.

Wow what an amazing year it's been! GCD Studios was the very first manufacterer to make me a part of their team, and I've loved every second of it! I've gotten to work with great product and met some amazing people, so of course I am over the moon excited that I've been invited to return!! To celebrate, how 'bout I share a couple fresh and springy cards? Here's a little something I put together using the Funhouse collection I love that even thought this is a circus themed line, it really doesn't have to look circusy (yeah, I know it's not a word) at all. Fresh yellows, soft oranges and blues and a fab little daisy cabochon all scream spring to me. Let's go a little bolder and brighter with Soul Food. This card nearly made itself with that Inspiration Card taking center stage, I just added a little ribbon, a chipboard butterfly, some bling from last years Artsy Urban collection, and a fresh green background. Oh my...this is my last post for GCD Studios...so I write this with a little bit of a heavy heart. I have sooooooo LOVED working as a DT member for them! Their products are DIVINE...they are SUPER GENEROUS...and I can't even begin to say how much I ADORE the sweetest of sweet, Heidi Sonboul! So my heart, though a little sad at my DT departure, will ALWAYS hold a BIG space for GCD Studios. This might be my last post for them, but this certainly won't be the last time you see me showcasing their AMAZING product!

Something else I LOOOOVE is SPRING and one of the things I LOOOOVE about Spring is the ROMANCE in the air!
Don't these new paper lines (I used a combination of the Soul Food and Material Girl collections for this) just put a feeling of Spring in your heart?! Sooooooo LOVELY!!

So with a heart full of so many things...I bid the GCD Studios DT a very fond adieu.

Let's welcome back Diana DT gal + Happy April

Hey everyone,

HAPPY APRIL! I just love spring time and all the flowers in bloom. I know some of you still have snow, but here in California it's beautiful and sunny. Ya gotta love the cost weather.

Over this month we have a lot of fun stuff planned and another contest that will be posted on Friday, so keep a look out for it. For today we have a post by our returning DT gal Diana :)

This past year with the G.C.D. Studios Facebook Team has been the greatest! This was my first manufacturing company who I was able to design for. I had so many wonderful experiences and met some fabulously talented ladies. One of my fondest memories was being able to meet Heidi Sonboul, Windy Robinson, and some of the G.C.D. staff. Let me tell you, these people are some of the coolest people I have ever met! I am so happy to have had the privilege to meet them in person. I was also lucky enough to work at the G.C.D booth at the Winter show. It was really neat to see how things work behind the scenes.

I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! Although my 2010 term with the G.C.D Facebook Team is over, I was asked to be part of the G.C.D blog DT! I was soooo excited to hear the news that of course I said yes right away. Besides, have you seen the collections they put out this year? Oh my word! They are some of the best yet! Plus most of these collections have embellishments! Swoon! Here is a layout I did with pieces from the Funhouse, Soul Food, and Spring In Bloom.

Welcome Spotlight Gal Victoria Murray!

Victoria is a scrapbook obsessed former jewellery designer who loves to create. She works in traditional, digital and hybrid scrap booking in a style which could be categorized as "funky graphic".She lives in downtown Toronto with her daughter, husband and our their fat guinea pig. Victoria works part time in a high end jewellery boutique and spent way too much time crafting, mostly at the expense of the housework.

Holy Moly these are amazing!

Hi everyone! Today I have six cards to share with you that were done for

the GCD Studios booth at CHA! First up is the card I created using
Animal Crackers for Boys. I filled in the chiparted hearts with a white
pen! Easy as pie, and really helps them stand out!

Next up is my card using Animal Crackers for Girls! These papers are so
cute and sweet...they make such lovely baby cards! I used the same
technique as above to fill in the chiparted flowers on the heart, but then
also glittered the heat and added some jewels!!

Up next is the card I created for the Funhouse collection. This paper
collection is SO much fun to use...I just love the amazing colors and fun
patterns it has! For this one I just chiparted the stars and then
painted over. I didn't feel any need to color them in...they stood out
enough as is!

Up next is a fun little card using the Scandia Jul paper collection. I
just ADORE this Christmas themed collection. The colors are fabulous and
the patterns are awesome!

I used the new Soul Food papers for this card, and they are fabulous! To
get the scalloped border, I just cut off one edge of a chipboard scalloped
frame from the Chip Art collection. They are perfect for the card maker
who loves to use fun borders!

And one more using the Soul Food collection...I love the fact that the
collection includes fun and bright colors, as well as rich and muted tones as
well! Very versatile!

3 beautiful layouts

Another weekend, gone in a flash. What up with that.

I thought today would be a good time to share some of my projects for GCD Studios.

First, using the new line called Fun House, here is a layout of Jenna and my niece at the fair last summer. This line is so much fun to work with!!!

And here is one for my diva using the new line called Material Girls. These two cracked me up when I was taking their picture last summer. They do have fun together, for sure!

And finally, a layout I did using the Christmas Card for the year. It's a new line called Scandia Jul, which makes this Scandanavian really happy! There were these wooden ornaments in the set that I love!

Hi everyone!
I'm excited to share some projects I made for GCD Studios for the Winter CHA show.
This one uses the Animal Crackers - Boy collection.
The blue monkey is cut from lace piece of paper included in the collection's paper stack.
This one is was also made with the Animal Crackers - Boy collection. I embellished the design here by cutting out some of pieces of patterned paper to fit in the inside. I also used the ChipArt tool to add some debossing to the foam letter stickers.

I made this one with the Funhouse collection. I just love this collection. It's just so fun!
I made the banner myself by mixing string with a number of different patterned papers.

These next two use the Material Girl collection.


This one uses The Great Outdoors collection. One of the hidden treasures of this collection is several of the papers have graph paper prints on the backsides. It makes them much more useful.

I used the Soul Food collection for this one.

I fussy cut the woman from a piece of paper in the collection and used foam tape to make her pop up off the card. The tile is a piece of chipboard I debossed the letters on with the ChipArt tool.

Good morning all. Today I have my projects that I made for GCD at CHA. First I want to share this mini album I created that I just adore. I love how it turned out and I used GCD's Funhouse collection and my ChipArt Tool with several Chipart tool stamps.

For the outside of the album, I used an old 7Gypsies album, I've had laying around for a couple years now. I cut off the other flap to the front and just made the album one way to open.

Then what I did was layer on the pieces. I had debossed the butterflies into the large rectangular chipboard piece, and then sprayed it with a bright pink mister. I think debossed the large butterfly with a daisy stamp, and again sprayed with a lime green, then a marshmallow ink mister. I debossed stars on the medium butterfly, sprayed it black and then after it was dry, added a light coat of the marshmallow mister. Lastly I used a tattered angels glitter ink, and colored the smallest bfly the rust brown with lots of glitter.
After I layered all this on, I also tied on some white seam binding to the top, and I foam taped the clown and dog onto the front. I layered the strips of Soulfood paper on.

For the rest of the album, I cut out images and used papers from the Funhouse collection, and I layered strips of the SoulFood paper as my 'journaling". The photos are my beautiful photogenic daughter Alizabeth- age 12. And even though the words are in past tense, they describe her beautiful spirit and outgoing personality.

I won't give you a breakdown of each page's creation, but I used many layers and lots of Glue Arts UCutIt foam tape.

Next, I have a gorgeous candy tin using the SoulFood collection. I should explain, at this point, embellishments weren't ready for us to use, so the team created our projects with our papers as much as possible. It's to me, the work of the truly talented to come up with such stunning creations when limited with what you can use.

For this tin, I used a clear paint bucket- in the pint size. I added paper around the whole tin, using white cardstock I had punched at the top and bottom of the brown paper.

I cut out white cardstock with my Imagine, and embossed with distressed stripes, then added that and a thin strip of pink around the can.
For the top, I cut and rolled several roses, punched out a couple leaves and hand cut some others, then I added crystal glitter to the edges of the roses.

I fussy cut the girl from paper, and added her on the white medallion with some UCutIt foam tape, then I rolled several more roses and cut leaves and added them at the top and bottom of the medallion.

I also added in several strips of that SoulFood paper.

I glittered the edges of those roses as well. I also tied a dotted ribbon around the top of the can, and added a bow, along with a rose and some twine in a bow.


Finally, I sprayed an oval tag with turquoise spray and stamped the sentiment, tied on wiht a pink button and twine.

Lastly- I made this cabin sign using Great Outdoors, I first layered in the checked red paper, cut out the words and heart on my Expression and layered them on the sign. I cut out a couple embellishments ( my idea for this was that the top ones look like they were bumper stickers stuck on a sign and the fish hooks look like they were little key holders) and I added a oval chipboard piece punched with my ChipArt Tool and letters.
