Hi Kim here with a tutorial for you. I decided to continue with the birthday/party theme for my technique tutorial this month, and I am going to show you how to make the three dimensional candles that I have included on this layout ...
Here is a close up shot ...
This is a simple technique to add dimension to your party layouts.
Start with a cutting a strip of paper the height that you would like your candles to finish up - mine are 3 inches high.
Cut a piece from this strip 1.75 inches wide.
Attach double sided tape along the right hand 3 inch edge on the side of the paper that will be the inside of the candle.
Roll the paper around a narrow cylindrical item - I used a paint brush - making sure that the adhesive edge ends up on the outside of the roll that you are creating.
Push the adhesive edge against the roll to attach.
Use a strong wet adhesive to attach the candle to your page.Cut a flame out of orange paper - I cut mine freehand as I wanted each of them different, but you could make a template.
Attach flames with foam tape above candles.I hope you have a chance to try this technique out on your next birthday page.
Cheers
Kim
