I fell in LOVE with the "good people"

Hello everyone!!! Julie Bonner here to share a layout with you :) I have recently been on a kick to scrap some of my wedding photos & LOVED the gorgeous prints within the GCD Studios Artsy Urban collection for this pic. I decided to stick with a color scheme of green, white, and some black mixed in to really make everything "pop".

I fell in LOVE with the "good people. good music. good food. good times. good life. " border strip from the Artsy Urban collection & decided to split it & use part under my pic & part coming out from the top left of the layout. I cut this gorgeous butterfly from one of the inspiration cards & then affixed one of the delicately beautiful Homespun Chic buttons onto the body of the butterfly to add an additional decorative element to it.

I clustered together a mix of products from the Artsy Urban line in the top left hand corner & then added one of the GCD Studios chipboard pieces. I used the AWESOME chip art tool to deboss some small flourishes onto the chipboard. Then I painted the chipboard a light green. Next I dabbed a sponge with a bit of slate-colored Alcohol Ink on it all over the chipboard to give it a slightly "black-wash" feel. A few added rhinestones & tada - a fun little handmade accent :)

I decided I wanted some type of border at the bottom of the page but was looking for something to add some dimension as well. I decided to create this fun little border of paper beads & would LOVE to share with you just how easy it is to add a border like this to your own pages!!!

Paper Bead Border Tutorial:
#1 Gather liquid glue, a thin paintbrush, a paper piercer, embroidery floss, a needle, and some 1" by 4" strips of patterned paper.
Photobucket
#2 You will begin by cutting the 1" by 4" strips of patterned paper in half diagonally. The easiest way to do this is to line opposite ends of the paper up on the cutting line of your trimmer's cutting line as seen below: Photobucket
#3 Take one triangle and use the end of the paintbrush to begin rolling the wide end towards the narrower end. Keep the rolling very tight as you go along. Place a bit of liquid glue at the end of the triangle and roll right into it. The end will stick to the rest of the rolled bead. Photobucket
#4 Slide the bead off the paintbrush & voila!!! Your first paper bead :) Photobucket
#5 Make a bunch of these - I have found one of these covers about 1 inch of length so depending on how long you want your border to be, create that many beads.
Photobucket
#6 You could certainly attach these with glue, but I found the best way to keep them from moving around was to actually stitch them down. I began by drawing a line and punching holes every inch. Don't forget a punched hole at the start & end of your line!! To attach my first bead, I began coming up with my needle on my second punched hole. Once I pulled my needle through that hole, I threaded my first bead & then went down through my first hole. In a sense I am "backstitching" the beads onto the page.
Photobucket
#7 I continued this, always coming up one hole behind my last bead & then coming down in the hole where my previous bead was attached.

#7 Here is a close-up of all the beads stitched down - hope this inspires you to try a little "paper-beading" on your next layout!!!
