Dec Issue Of The PaperCut Is Here!

Good morning everyone.
I don't know about you, but I feel like Winter is coming early this year. Even here in Sunny California, we've had cloudy days and lots of rain. I guess it's a nice to have a change in weather, but I'm still a sunshine girl at heart!

This last 30 days has been SOOOO hectic. We've been designing our tote bags for CHA handouts (they are totally cute too), we've been finishing up our Catalog, designing our booth and crafting until our finger feel like they are going to fall off, and I'm pretty sure we are not allow. All companies in the scrappy world are super busy and being that Christmas is around the corner... it's the most wonderful/crafty time of the year!

It's hard to believe that this coming Jan, I've been with GCD Studios for 4 years. I remember the first time I walked into their booth and met the team, because they were all so nice! It's also hard to believe this is our 8th issue of the PaperCut. Time really does fly when you are having fun, doing what you love! I'm pretty sure that you will love this issue. It's packed with new ideas and a CUTE hat for the new year.

Oh and starting on Jan - 1st - 2013 (that feels weird to type), we are starting our collection release party AND tons of giveaways ;) So mark your calendars. This is our best year yet!

What do you think of this months issue? Did you have a favorite?

From Dasher to Rudolph

Today I'm going to share one of my favorite holiday icons, the reindeer! From Dasher to Rudolph, reindeer have always been a favorite part of Christmas for me. when I was little they represent the magic of Christmas, I mean they can fly after all :) Now I think I like them because they seem so graceful, and I kind of have a thing for antlers...they're just cool.

To celebrate my reindeer love, I have a card to share.

Supplies:
Cardstock: (white) Bazzill, Patterned paper: (Letter Tiles, Labels and Tags, Zigzag, Woven Chevron) from the Splendor collection), (Weekend Fun from the Country Charm collection ) GCD Studios, Stamp: (Christmas Sampler) Paper Smooches, Ink: (Chestnut Roan) ColorBox, Button: American Crafts, Twine: My Mind's Eye, Dies: (Standard circles LG, Standard Circles SM) Spellbinders Paper Arts
Size: 6"x4.5"

I create this using papers from the Splendor and Country Charm collections from GCD Studios as well as a deer cut out that I designed my self. Of course I had to make my deer leaping as if in flight and sporting some pretty fabulous antlers.

I used some circle dies to create a background, and added some hand cut holly leaves, with a button and twine as an accent.

And because I like to share I thought I'd offer up my deer pattern :) Hope you like!

How About A Christmas Tree?

Pinterest is a huge source for crafty inspiration.  Guiseppa here today and I am excited to share with you a layout inspired by Pinterest.  So here's a look.

So, this is what I did.  I stared off by choosing how I was going to create my to make it similar to the idea off Pinterest.  I cut out a scalloped borders using my Silhouette...genious!

I then started adding them to my paper, making each one a little shorted than the last one.  I curled the scallops by using my nail.

See how it looks after I have made each border shorter an shorter.

Now, I just dressed it up a bit.  It didn't need a whole lot because the main embellishment was the tree itself.

Go ahead...try it.  I am thrilled at how it turned out.  Thanks for stopping by today and happy crafing!

Crafty Mason Jars

Hello everyone, Wendi here, and I am going to help ya out with some fun holiday ideas to use those Mason jars that you have laying around at your house.

I know I am always needing some kind of quick gift to hand out, whether for friends, neighbors, the kids friends, anyone. So I came up with some fun ideas to get those Mason jars working for you.

Here is the final product:

I went into my kitchen and grabbed some Mason Jars and filled a few of them up with goodies:

Cookie Jar:
This first jar is a great idea for those neighbors or family or friends who have everything, or love to bake. Creating your own cookie in a jar. I grabbed a fun recipe online to use HERE. (in my jar I actually used peanut butter M&Ms and added in some mini chocolate chips).

Here is the decorated version of the jar:
Just create a quick tag with the recipe:
and don't forget to embellish the top:

Next up, we have a fun treat jar for someone you love, and care about. Fill it up with Kisses. These are great to send of with the husband for his work desk, or maybe your child to keep in their locker at school, when they need a quick treat, and are wonderful grandparent gifts.
Send them a fun message on the top:

Here is a fun idea for your kids to give out to their friends, and can be a low cost gift. Or maybe, for your own BFF, just a little something to say thanks for being the BEST!!! I filled it up with fun snacks, that are low in calories (well, lower than chocolate... LOL)
And can't leave off the bling:
And last, even though it's not a "treat" gift, here is a great Mason jar present for those celebrating Christmas. I hit Target and grabbed a cheap pack of white Christmas lights and created this:
And topped it off with some festive ribbon and a star:

So how will you decorate your Mason jars?? What treats will you add inside?

Thanks so much for stopping by today.

Hello Bloggy Friends - Our Booth Number for CHA

I don't know if you noticed or not...
but GCD has slowed down on our blog posts. We are getting everything ready for the CHA winter show and this is going to be our best year yet. I have 2 new collections.  We have 3 new collections from Diane Kappa (whom I just adore!). 3 from Donna Salazar(whom I just LOVE), and 1 from Heather Tozzi (whom I think of like a sister). All the collections are pretty and new! It's so exciting!!! The team has their supplies shipping out tomorrow and over this month they will be working hard on creating new projects for the booth ;)

We will still be posting goodies and there will be one more magazine this month, but from here to mid DEC we will be posting every other day. So the 15th, 17th, 19th and so forth. Plus in about 2 weeks you'll be able to see the newest issue of The PaperCut and trust me...you'll LOVE IT. It's our Christmas issue.

So now that you have a heads up about the blog, I also wanted to share our booth number for CHA. Our booth is bigger and the theme is going to be a blast decorating for. I am so thrilled about it all, but there is so much to do.

nibble...nibble on my house

It's the most wonderful time of the year!  Amanda here today with a super cute gingerbread gift box that is perfect for holiday gift giving!
I started by die cutting a house shaped gift box (Silhouette) The gingerbread house box measures approximately 4"x 3 1/2"x 4 3/4".  I decorated the outside of the box not unlike I would a real gingerbread house, only instead of using candy, I used bits of paper that had a candy-like feel.

The roof opens up so you can fill the house with a small gift or goodies.  For an extra wintry effect, I lined the windows with vellum.

The candy dots are made with a regular ol' paper punch.  The door knob is made from a brad.  I rolled up striped paper to make the candy cane sticks on the corners of the house.

I added scalloped trim to the roof and some peppermint striped molding around the windows (complete with mitered corners!).

The roof is composed of several scallop punched layers accented with iridescent glitter.

May your days be merry and bright!

Supplies: Zigzag 1687 (Splendor collection); Super Star 1511, Weekend Fun 1515 (Country Charm collection); vellum, white cardstock, scallop punches, brad, glitter.
