Light It Up...Christmas Style!

Hello! Christmas is fast approaching....are you ready? :) One of my favorite things about the holidays is after all the lights are out, and everyone is tucked in bed, the glow from the garlands of lights in the house is just so peaceful! I wanted to share with you today a simple way to dress up a plain old light strand into a pretty garland.

First, I started by creating a cutting file in SCAL2 to cut on my Cricut. The shape is just a large circle with some tiny stars cut out of it. I have made this shape into an SVG file which you can download HERE.

I wanted to spruce up the papers a bit (pun intended!), so I misted the inside with a green mist, and on the outside I used a combination of gesso and mod podge. While the outside was still wet, I sprinkled on some mica snow and let it dry. Then I cut each circle in half.

Each half will create one cone around a light. I used double sided tape to hold the edges of the cone together, but you could staple or glue them, too!

Finally, in between each light, I added some strips of ribbon in knots.

And now I have a pretty garland for my home!!

Happy Happy Holidays!
