Teri here, and I'm thrilled to be back at the GCD Studios blog today with another technique.
This time, I am bringing you DIY Buttons. Easiest technique ever. No really. ;)
You are going to need:
* Circle punches of different sizes
* An anywhere hole punch (or a Crop-a-Dile tool or any kind of small hole punch)
* Chipboard
* Some patterned and solid papers from GCD Studios (of course!)
And here's what you do:
1. Randomly punch several circles of patterned and solid paper. I used papers from GCD's Smoothie Shoppe collection to make my circles here.
2. Layer the circles together.
3. Place the circles on chipboard. Cut them out. (Note: My chipboard is so thick that can't be cut with a punch so I had to use this method. If you are using a diecut machine at home, you might consider using that instead to cut your chipboard out.)
4. Use a small circle punch or anywhere hole punch to pop out a couple of circles out of each button. If you are using an anywhere hole punch, be sure to set a self-healing mat under it so you don't damage your work surface.
And woolah! There you go. Buttons ready to go.
I used some of my DIY buttons to make two cards.
First, I made this hello card.
You'll notice, I only used one big button like shown in the step-outs. For the smaller buttons, I just used one circle cut from patterned paper and then layered it on top of chipboard.
And then I made this card.
Rather than using the buttons in a traditional way, I used them more to add a little visual interest to the card.
