Holiday Spirit

Hello! It's ME again! In keeping with the Holiday spirit, our technique this month was to create a layout with the holidays in mind and to use a fun technique. I love the typical Christmasy colors: red, green, white, silver, gold..but, I also LOVE to use non-traditional colors as well. I really love pops of pink & turquoise amongst my holiday decor. I decided to also use that "technique" in my "Christmas 2009" layout.

I did use a quick masking technique for the base of my layout. I took my red cardstock and used a similar color of Glimmer Mist "Candy Apple Red". I placed 4 chipboard stars on the top part of my cardstock and liberally sprayed the mist all over it.

After I pulled up the chipboard stars, I was left with the negative image of them on the top part of my paper. I originally was going to do some handstitching around the outline of them, but once I put my layout together, I thought it might make it too busy and just left them be...but, I think I may try that soon on another project :-)

Another technique that I used on this layout was some hybrid scrapbooking. I purchased the Ali Edwards digital Christmas brushes a couple of years ago and they are something I use over and over during the holidays. This time, I decided to take a couple of my favorite text strips and printed them on white cardstock; then I simply cut the strips out and glued them onto my layout.

And I also used the awesome Chip Art Tool as well! I took the same chipboard stars that I used as my mask earlier, and painted them with a paint dabber in the color "Raspberry" - these will be my pops of pink in a triangular pattern to draw the eye across the page. After they dried, I first "stamped" a decorate circular design and then in the middle of that I stamped the "m". I then outlined the stars in some Stickles.
